this Thursday. May 20th, we'll start with the news. Israeli officials reportedly expect to reach a

ceasefire deal with Hamas this week, even as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gives no public

indication that his military is going to back down. A senior official tells the New York Times that the two sides are hoping to reach an agreement by Friday.

But in speaking with MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell yesterday, a spokesperson for the Israeli military said he saw no signs that the fighting is nearing its end.

This is in line with Netanyahu's most recent comments, where he said the strikes would continue until Hamas was defeated.

The prime minister is facing growing pressure from the United States.

In a phone call yesterday, the White House says President Biden told Netanyahu that he, quote, expected a significant de-escalation today.
