I'm Jonathan Lemire. Thanks for starting your day with us. And we'll begin this morning with a series of developments in Donald Trump's legal cases,

beginning with the judge in his classified documents case denying one of the ex-presidents' requests to have the charges against him dismissed. Trump's legal team tried to argue that the law

on national security secrets is simply too vague.

But Judge Alien Cannon ruled hours after the hearing that a dismissal over vagueness right now would be, quote, premature and is better suited to be addressed later in connection with jury

instruction briefing.

Cannon did not rule on the other motion from which Trump's team,

which claimed the former president believed he was allowed to keep the documents as his

personal records because of the Presidential Records Act. The judge appeared skeptical of that

argument yesterday, saying at one point, it's difficult to see how this gets

you to the dismissal of an indictment. No timetable yet on that decision. Meanwhile, just days
