A major elections update this morning. NBC News now projects that Republicans have won control of the House by a slim margin,

with 218 seats being officially called for the GOP.

That's the number of seats needed for a majority.

Overall, NBC News estimates that Republicans

will win 221 seats, while Democrats will hold on to 214. The margin of error is plus or minus

two seats with seven races yet to be called. House GOP leader, Kemp McCarthy, who has launched a contentious battle

for the Speaker of the House, celebrated his party's win by tweeting, quote,

it's official, Democrats' one-party rule is over. The results hand President Biden, a divided

Congress, with Democrats keeping control of the Senate. The president
