He was born in the United States, but raised in Australia and Britain, and educated at Cambridge

University, where he was awarded a doctorate for his thesis, Radar Strategy,

the Air Delema in British politics, 1932 to 1937.

After this, he worked as a journalist for several years,

including as an editorial writer for the Daily Telegraph and the National Post of Canada.

He is the author of Washington Spies, The Story of America's First Spiring, which is the basis

for AMC series Turn, and now second season called Turn Washington Spies,

where he's a consultant on the first season, now a writer and co-producer of the second season.
