Summary
It didn’t feel unusual at the time. Just a normal night at home, the kind that fades as soon as it’s over.
The first knock came from the front door—two quick taps, just enough to make him assume someone was standing there. When he opened it, no one was there. The street was quiet, nothing out of place, and it was easy enough to dismiss.
The second knock was harder to explain.
Same sound. Same spacing. But this time, it came from inside the house.
After that, the night went back to normal. No more sounds. No reason to think about it again. By morning, it had already started to feel like something that didn’t need an explanation.
Until the call came later that day. And the timing didn’t feel like a coincidence anymore.
