The Bird Show. Look, you walk into their house, their customs, right? It's only respectful to pay attention to those, but in this case, maybe not.

So I have a friend who is South Asian, and he grew up in America, but his family grew up in India.

And the other day, they had a white American friend over, and part of the customs of a lot of South Asian and honestly Asian homes as well.

And even here in the U.S., I do this in my home, but not for the same reasons, is you take off your

shoes when you enter the house.

And for me, it's a germ thing, but in some countries, it shows the host a sign of respect

that you're not going to drag dirt into their home and even

extend sometimes to their ancestors showing their ancestors respect by not sullying the home

with dirt heavy metals chemicals from your shoes just quickly before you go on there just here

in our own country do you expect people to take their shoes off when they enter your home

for me no but i i've just never really paid much attention to it, mainly because

I'm not, I don't really have many people out over, it's just me and my cats.

Yes, only because I have a light carpet. Yeah? Mm-hmm. No. Me neither. Okay.

And it's interesting that you say cats, because this family does have a cat.

And so the American friend, when they came over, was like, I don't want to take off my shoes.

And my friend was like, okay, well, it's kind of our house rule.

You know, you can't come.

Nobody gets to wear their shoes in.

Not grandma.

You know, if the president showed up, you take your shoes off in our house.

And his, the American friend, white Americans friend take was, one, I wasn't prepared to show my socks.

That's weird. It feels very intimate. I have a hole in one. Like, it just feels weird to walk barefoot.
