Hey, everybody. Welcome back to Campaign HQ. I'm David Plough. Quite an eventful week in American politics. We're now on Thursday, September

the 26th and we're about 48 hours into a full-blown impeachment storm. And clearly my one caution there is blown impeachment

storm and clearly my one caution there is we don't know how this is going to play out

either the impeachment inquiry and maybe eventual proceedings themselves or

what impact they have on the election, either primary or general, this is

uncharted waters. Nixon and Clinton both went through impeachment

proceedings but that was in their second term. So we've never since Andrew

Johnson back in the 1860s and I don't think we should draw many

lessons from that day. This is the first time in modern times we've had a

president go through an impeachment proceeding during their first term heading

into re-election.

So I think that what's most important from my standpoint

is that the House of Representatives and then ultimately

the Senate treat this with care and respect,

because this is as serious as things get in our country.

I doubt the White House will treat it with the same level of seriousness and respect and so

they'll try and turn it I think very quickly into witch hunt part two but obviously

this is going to be something that affects the campaign over the coming weeks if

if not months and it'll be fascinating to see how our Democratic candidates out on the

campaign trail deal with this. You know I think the other major event of the

week is we're starting to see what often happens is in races is the polling and again I want to caution people

to leap to too many conclusions based on polling but when you see enough of them
