A pause in fighting. I'm Lisa Lacerra. Fox News. Russia and Ukraine agreed to a short ceasefire.

The three-day ceasefire, beginning May 9th and ending May 11th, coincides with Victory Day when Russia marks the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II.

In a social media post, President Trump says the ceasefire will

include a suspension of all kinetic activity and a prisoner swap of 1,000 prisoners from each

country. The ceasefire announcement comes a day after special envoy Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner

met with Ukraine's top negotiator in Miami. Fox is Jared Halper, the White House.

Ukraine's President Zelensky, in a statement, said Ukraine's decision on how to engage with the ceasefire discussions was shaped in part by the prospect of freeing its

prisoners.

Ukraine has made the return of prisoners of war a central demand throughout the conflict.

As the White House awaits word from Iran on its latest peace proposal, U.S. Central Command

says it's taken aim at several Iranian tankers.

U.S. forces announced that they disabled two more vessels that were caught violating the U.S.

blockade in the Gulf of Oman.

Sentcom also releasing new images of the four U.S. guided missile destroyers that faced

nonstop incoming

fire from Iran while they were traversing 500 miles through the Persian Gulf and the Strait

of Hormuz. Fox is Acha Hosni at the White House. Still, President Trump said the ceasefire with

Iran remains intact. Cameras will be allowed in the courtroom for the entire trial of Tyler Robinson.

The man accused of gunning down Charlie Kirk while he spoke on a Utah college campus last

September. The defense had argued cameras could impact the outcome of the trial. Judge Tony Graff

also agreeing to push Robinson's preliminary hearing to early July. Alabama Republicans have asked the U.S. Supreme Court to clear the way for the state to pursue a new congressional map

after the high court decision last week to not allow out Louisiana to create a second majority black congressional district.
