I'm Elvis Mitchell, and my guest today has this year her third Emmy nomination for guest actors in the comedy series of her 11 Emmy nominations, including a win for writing the used to be the Chris Rock Show back when it used to be just HBO instead of HBO Max.

She's one of her two Emmy nominations this year.

from new adventures of old Christine or Curbue enthusiasm. Some of us remember her as a character

who actually reminds me of Mom's Mabley, who she played in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel this year.

And I'm, of course, talking about Biggie Shorty from Pouti Teng. My guest is Wanda Sykes Wanda.

Always have to mention the Pooley Teng, huh?

I think I'm going to try and retire Pudy Teng after this, but I will say that when I

watch Poo Teng for the first time, and as I like to say on this show, I think I'm the only English-speaking critic who was

quoted on the box of the DVD for Putty Tang that I thought that you were kind of doing, to some

extent, I was reminded of the Mons Mabley and some of your line deliveries that you could make

a compliment sound like an insult, your handsome man. I mean, just, and also the way that

that character took her time to say and do everything so we could watch the deliberation was also reminds me the way that Moms Mabley worked and the way you do Moms Mabley and the Marvelous Mrs. Bainesville.

I'm pretty sure that I've picked up a few mannerisms from moms, you know, I mean, but I watched her,

you know, when I was a little girl. So I am well aware of, you know, of her cadence. And like you

said, she, she does have a way of, it sounds nice, but then it's like, oh, wait a minute, that wasn't, okay.

Wait, wait, was that, you know, she has that way of her delivery is just iconic.

So my mom said that I'd been playing moms Mabelie since I was a little girl because I would run around

the house and you know with the like a dust cap on my head and you know just doing mom's lines so
