Welcome, welcome, welcome to episode one hundred and ninety three of the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip! A very happy March 9th to you all, or as it is know in Team 3W circles - WALK LIKE A PANTHER release day! There’s no doubt that if you’ve been listening to the podcast over the past year or so at least, you’ll have heard various little hints and references to the film emerge, which have evolved into full on chats - well, the time has come and the film is now out in a TON of cinemas, and now is your chance to go see your intrepid host Scroobius Pip in his first feature film!
Of course you may have seen Pip in Taboo, alongside Tom Hardy and Stephen Graham, or even Cornerboys opposite Brett Goldstein, or of course the music videos (there have been several), but this is the full on cinematic debut right here. You might have also heard the podcasts where Pip has been joined by actors or close associates of actors involved in these projects, and as it happens a good selection of the stars of Walk Like A Panther have appeared over the history of Distraction Pieces, pre- and post-wrap of it! So here is a little selection of actorial greatness, a selection of clips from past episodes of the podcast with some of the stars of the film either going into the process of acting, their histories in the field or even straight up Panther talk. The clips are in chronological order too so as you’ll hear, it starts with vague hints (or Taboo talk!) and evolves into confirmed ‘now we can talk about it’ chats. So enjoy this collage of awesomeness, as you hear from:
• STEPHEN GRAHAM! (episode 87)
• NEIL FITZMAURICE (episode 154)
• CHRISTOPHER FAIRBANK (episode 155 p1 / episode 155 p2)
…and of course, peep the original episodes if you haven’t already - there’s always a treasure trove of nuggets to be enjoyed, as you know already!
More importantly though - go peep WALK LIKE A PANTHER! It’s out everywhere. ENJOY!!!

0:00.0 | Welcome, welcome, welcome. This is the Distraction Pieces Podcast Episode 193. I think it's confusing because it's a bonus surprise special edition because today is the day that walk like a pamper comes out in cinemas all around the UK and it's my first film I've been in and I'm really excited and it means a lot. |
0:25.0 | I'm recording this on Wednesday morning because I went to the premiere last night in Manchester at Primp Works. I had an absolutely amazing time. |
0:35.0 | The first time I've seen the film as well. So that was just hugely exciting. This podcast I should explain is some highlights of previous guests who were all in walk like a pamper. |
0:48.0 | So Stephen Graham, Michael Socker, Rob Parker, I'm going to forget one, Dave Johns, all four of those were in before we made the film, before I'd heard about it or anything. |
1:03.0 | So it was pure chance that when I got asked into it or not pure chance in tow because Stephen Graham was the one who recommended me after working together on taboo. |
1:17.0 | But the rest it was chance that they're all in there. So that was exciting to work with people I'd already had on the podcast and already knew. |
1:23.0 | But it was also exciting to get new podcasts. So while I was there I got a knilf its morris on a Chris Fairbank, a guzz car and Lane a Heide and yeah they all absolutely smash it in the film. |
1:38.0 | I've seen it now. I can actually tell you how much I enjoyed it. It's just it's just good clean fun. It's really uplifting and positive and feel good. |
1:48.0 | It's about community, it's about wrestling, it's about the north, but not the north painted in the typical grim gritty way in a really vibrant, really highlighting all the wonders and camaraderie of communities. |
2:04.0 | So yeah, it's good fun. |
2:06.0 | Things I should tell you about last night. So me and Guss Khan did a load of radio. So we did six music and we did five live and that was cool. |
2:19.0 | But obviously at that point we've not seen the film and we were joking to each other that we're doing a lot of press. I've done like short list magazine this week and loads of other bits and like me and Guss were like, we're not really in the film much. |
2:34.0 | But it's a weird one because we shot tons of different bits and then actually watching the film. We were both really pleasantly surprised how much we're in it because we're in it a lot more than we kind of remembered. |
2:44.0 | And the keys were as scenes again, make no mistake. Stephen Graham and David Jones are the leads. |
2:53.0 | And rock Parker has a great role in it. Everyone you know everyone's doing great, but we were yeah we were kind of in our heads. We're like, well, we're barely in this film. It was an amazing experience, but it felt like a bit odd that we were getting so much press and so much love. |
3:11.0 | But what Dan Cadan, who I'm going to have on the podcast at some point, the writer and director of Dan is, he's put us in some amazing pivotal points and pivotal moments and really yeah amazing to be part of. |
3:24.0 | Probably not allowed to tell you all this because this one of them things that's at the premiere only, but Stephen Graham couldn't make it last night. He was absolutely heartbroken. |
3:35.0 | I'd spoken to him a week about it and he was get get it, but the reason he couldn't make it was he was off doing a new film. |
3:43.0 | But he did a little video before I ended in this video. He's on set in his uniform and that and he's like, look, I'm getting, I can't be there, but I've left the pamphers to go and wrestle in America. |
3:56.0 | And I've got a new tag team partner and then he moved his camera over and it was Tom Hanks there and him and Tom Hanks ripped out a promo, a wrestling promo on the audience of the walk like a pamphlet for the premiere. |
4:08.0 | And it was an amazing start to fantastic and beautiful and lovely and warm film. So yeah, that's what this podcast is. I'm rambling a lot on the way up to Manchester. |
4:20.0 | It was the first time it hit me how emotional it is because again, I'm not making out. It's my film in any way, but it is a proper film and it's on in my local cinema. |
