2025 was a year of change for the Washington state legislature. Lawmakers navigated a multi-billion dollar budget deficit, a first-time governor with strong

thoughts about taxes and challenges from the second Trump administration.

KUOW's Olympia correspondent Jeannie Lindsay will bring us the facts in a minute.

Washington State. Our Employment Security Department will host a webinar with information

about how to apply for unemployment and health care benefits,

as well as job training and educational programs.

You have to register in advance, and the webinar begins at 10 a.m.

Mayor Bruce Harrell's one Seattle plan aims to double the city's housing capacity over the next two decades,

but Seattle's own study says that will result in tree canopy loss.

Today, the Seattle City Council will get an update on the city's long-term vision for

increasing the number of trees in Seattle. Officials with several city departments will lay

out their plans to build housing and tree canopy. The meeting starts at two. And we could get a very big sports announcement today.
