Welcome back to the Lention Rouge Cycling Podcast for one of the strangest stages in a grand tour this year,

the Welter of Spaniard, stage 14 from Vila Franco del Bierzo to Villablino.

The Welter never goes over 200Ks, but today it does, but it doesn't even have that much

climbing despite a 50 minute or 40 minute climb at the

end of the stage. There's hills before and then a category one highway climb 23k is 4.5%, and it's not rampas in

humanas, it's not fake news, it's the most regular climb you'll ever see.

And then a descent, 17 K's to the finish is the top of that climb with about the last 5 K's being flat and it's a little bit of an uphill drag to the finish as well. So a very, very strange stage in that who is yeah like is it for

G.C especially for a Saturday Benji? Not for G.C. that's for certain for me because 23 colonas, yes that's a long climb, but it's only 4%

that's near impossible to really get separation on in my personal opinion.

So I didn't see anything like that

happening here. No real GC action. For me it was likely to be a breakaway

victory because if I went through the teams yesterday then I was thinking okay

G. C teams well they'll just be happy, Boran, I should is there if there's no other

G.C. leader in the breakway. Other G.C. riders might try and get in the breakaway

to try and get back into the top 10 if they're not in it. Other G.C riders outside of that, like

Moss will take a day off and try and replenish energy before the quit through Negru climb

before we, I can't talk talk in the next couple of stages.

And then some other riders like,

E.F, Israel, etc.

Like Israel, for example, I'd expect to go in the breakaway and some other teams as well.
