Welcome into Tom Carman's Patriots Talk podcast.

The will he or won't he debate surrounding Mike Vrable came to an unexpected end on Tuesday when he spoke around noon at Gillette Stadium.

Vrable spoke for about two and a half minutes regarding the fallout from the photo

and story in the New York Post two weeks ago showing he and athletic reporter Diana Rossini

sharing some quality time, saying he didn't want his players to be able to be in the position of facing questions

about the situation before he addressed it with the media and that this week should be about

the NFL draft. Ravel decided on Tuesday to get in front of it.

You know, I've had some difficult conversations with people that I care about, with my family,

the organization, the coaches, the players.

Those have been positive and productive.

We believe in order to be successful on and off the field, you have to make good decisions.

That includes me.

That starts with me.

We never want our actions to negatively affect the team.

We never want to be the cause of a distraction.

And what I, those are comments and questions that I've answered for the team.

And with the team, we'll keep those private and, you know, to ourselves.

In comes Phil Perry. It is the week of the draft. We'll be getting to the draft. Well, not a ton of the draft. We get some A.J. Brown stuff to discuss today. But first, let's talk about the news of the day. That's Mike Vrable stepping to the microphone. And clearly this hit critical mass in terms of it was not going away. And I think Mike, and by extension the team realized the nothing to see here approach was not going to cut it.

Certainly signal the tone of contritioned there.

And the reason I didn't think that Mike would speak before the draft, and I said it a number of times, was, A, he sounded fairly committed to the bit.

He sounded in his first and only before today offering that it was laughable.
