The midterm elections are just days away, and the big story is not just hyper-partisanship,

but whether the voting is being conducted legally. It's a different issue in every state,

especially in Georgia and Kansas, where election

officials, Republican secretaries of state, are running for higher office while accused of preventing

qualified minorities from going to the polls. We'll talk about that later. First, there are

continuing questions going back to Russian disruption of the presidential election two years ago.

Is it still going on?

If so, what's being done to stop it?

The previous efforts are described in detail in the latest book by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Greg Miller.

He's National Security correspondent for the Washington Post. The book's called

welcome. Thanks so much for having me on today, Warren. Your book is not just about the 2016 election.

It brings us up to the current moment. So I want to ask you first about what's

happening now. What do you think the Russians are doing at this moment to try to influence

outcomes all over the country? And what are we doing to try to stop them? You know, I think that

the Russian effort right now is a bit murky about in terms of what's happening. I think that

it's less clear that there is

active Russian effort to try to help specific candidates and specific races win. It's a lot more

clear that there's sort of Russian broader interference, the messaging that's designed just to

so discord in the United States to amplify disagreements and create or worsen societal

divisions has never really stopped. And that was a big, big part of what we learned about
