Summary
THE WORD THIS WEEK IS: vote.
March in the streets. Hold up your sign. Blast your opinion on your social channels. Scream at the top of your lungs the solutions for the injustices that surround us.
BUT, if you really want to make a difference, go a step further than just your First Amendment right…and vote.
But Should Christian’s vote?
“No, Christians shouldn’t vote,” they say.
“Nor should they waste their time and energy on trying to fix a dying and broken world through the ballot box,” they say.
In this episode we unpack:
+ the 5 biblical reasons WHY TO VOTE
+ the reasons why Christians choose not to vote
+ the true meaning of separation of church and state
+ the importance of the electoral college
+ and why YOUR VOICE DOES MATTER.
55 days left…you are the salt & the light.
Go rise up. || xxE

| 0:00.0 | What's up, friends, it's E! and welcome to a new episode of Midweek Rise Up. I pray that you're |
| 0:05.3 | seeing God move and work in your life as you give gratitude and praise for the day that you're in. |
| 0:10.6 | And in this episode, we're going to talk about a freedom and a privilege that I think we take for |
| 0:15.1 | granted far too often. So let's each of us prepare our heart, clear our mind, and take a deep |
| 0:20.5 | breath and unpack the |
| 0:21.7 | word for this week together as we jump into the good news. |
| 0:24.7 | The word for this week is vote. |
| 0:26.9 | Over the past several months, and I feel like a majority of 2020 for that matter, we've seen |
| 0:31.9 | protests, rioting, business shutdowns, mandatory quarantines, anything dealing with hot takes and cultural divides, |
| 0:38.7 | you name it, it's been turned into hot trigger topics. And politics have unfortunately bled |
| 0:44.1 | into just basically about everything from professional sports, Hollywood and fashion, and even the |
| 0:50.8 | church, and you name it somehow in some way it's been impacted. And no longer are |
| 0:54.8 | the two avoided topics at the dinner table, religion, and politics. And you might say, |
| 0:59.2 | but E, this 2020, I've been more vocal than ever, especially with the injustices around us. |
| 1:04.6 | I've posted black squares on my Instagram feed. I've shared Facebook threads on political |
| 1:09.2 | hot topics. I send out YouTube videos of news stories |
| 1:12.5 | every hour to people and I've been using specific hashtags. Okay, but let me challenge you on that for a second. |
| 1:18.6 | Is that truly making a difference? Or are you just trying to pander the pressure of your followers on |
| 1:23.0 | social media? I know that's a tough pill to swallow, but really analyze this. And I'm not saying sharing information isn't powerful. It absolutely is. But if you really want to make a difference, I challenge you to take it one step further. And I challenge you to exercise your right to vote. And I'll never forget several years ago when I used to go to the Pentagon with my mom for some of her business meetings. After one of her briefings as we were walking |
| 1:44.2 | out, she was super contemplative. And she turned to me and she said, if you ever want to make a |
| 1:48.8 | difference in this country, you have to understand policy and pass legislation. You can march in the |
| 1:53.2 | streets, holding signs, screaming at the top of your lungs for change. And that's great in all. |
