Yo, hey Power Hour crew. It's Adrienne here.

0:04.0

Hope you are all having an awesome week and enjoying this summertime vibe and this weather.

Something that I've been thinking about today. I'm just walking home, so excuse me if I'm a little bit out of breath, I'm walking uphill.

0:18.0

It doesn't matter how much you run. Walking uphill inclines will always make you out of breath.

0:23.6

The escalators, perfect example.

0:25.7

Anyway, this week, something I've been thinking about a lot is creating boundaries for yourself

0:32.2

and for others and being honest.

0:35.2

Now, if you asked me if I thought I was an honest person, or if you asked most

0:38.7

people, if they think they're an honest person, they would probably say, yeah, of course I'm

0:42.6

honest. We all think of ourselves to be honest people. However, the reason this is coming up for me

0:47.3

and why I'm thinking about this is because I often encourage others to create boundaries for

0:52.2

themselves and others. It's actually something I was speaking to a client about just yesterday.

0:57.4

I was talking about, you know, you've got to create these boundaries.

0:59.2

You've got to have an open conversation with the people in your life and tell them,

1:02.9

this is my boundary on this subject.

1:04.4

This is my non-negotiable.

1:06.2

So an example is having a day when you say on this day, I finish work at this time because I want to pick up my child from school.

1:15.5

Or on this day, I start, I'm not available in the mornings because that's the morning when I go to physio or Pilates or whatever it is, it's for you, which is your non-negotiable.

1:26.2

And once you make that non-negotiable and you make

1:28.2

that boundary and you make it clear to people, you can tell them if you want to, you don't have

1:32.4

to justify to them, but if you want to tell them this is the reason that I have this boundary,

1:36.7

then sure, go for it. You know, like, I don't know, I have this lower back pain and I'm going to physiotherapy and Pilates to correct it and I'm going to be doing that for the next eight weeks. I'm going every Monday. I'm going at this time. I'm not going to be available.
