Hi, I'm Edwards 3, and welcome to all things Catholic, where real faith meets real life.

We're a big soccer family and my kids are always in the backyard, kicking the ball around.

We have big goals that doing penalty kicks, free kicks, corner kicks.

And one day, one of my teenage boys hit an amazing shot, perfectly placed, lots of power right through our living room window.

And it completely shattered. And thankfully, I wasn't home at the time. But you can imagine if a dad

were home and all of a sudden here's the shattering of the window, there could be many

different kinds of responses. On one hand,

I could have gone out there and just started yelling, why did you do this? I told you not to

kick the ball this direction. This is going to cost $750. I can't believe you broke this and

came out with a great fury and rage. Another response a father might do in that moment is you could go out

and feel all that anger inside and he's just raging a storm inside himself and he's thinking the

very same thoughts, I can't believe he did this. I told him a thousand times don't kick the ball this

way and now it's going to be $750 and he goes outside and you could see him fuming on the inside, but he doesn't let it out.

He keeps it in.

He practices some self-control and he walks back in the house.

But everybody knows, don't go around dad right now.

He's in a really tough spot and we're walking on eggshells around him.

We don't want to get him upset.

He's really

frustrated about what happened with the broken window. That could be a second response.
