Who have we got around the table today?

Ellen Coyne is Senior Island Reporter for the Times.

Zoe Strimple, historian of gender and relationships, author and columnist for the Sunday

Telegraph, and Clara Ampho, a presenter for BBC Radio One's Live Lounge, who also regularly hosts many

things, including Glastonbury. So hello to you all. And Zoe, can I start with you on this one?

Because young people not being ready to lose their virginity, There was a study about this, wasn't that?

There was a study recently from the London School of Tropical Hygiene.

Sounds like a fun place to work. Isn't it fun? I mean, typhoid, hello. But it's the same,

actually the same person who did the study is responsible for the huge national survey of sexual

attitudes and lifestyle. I may have got that exact word of words wrong. So they know a lot of what

they're talking about. But what this study came out with was basically saying that, well, you know,

a lot of people, a lot of British people, young people lose a virginity before they're ready. I think

it was something like half of girls do

and less than, you know, slightly lower number of boys do

and should we therefore change the age of consent.

I just thought how bizarre that we're now bringing this sort of

psychologicalized emotional lingo of ready
