Welcome in to the Govalls 24-7 podcast. I'm Ben McKee, and I'm joined by Ryan Callahan on this

breaking news edition because here on Saturday, June 13th, Tennessee football has landed two

commitments in one day, Callahan. Yeah, another big pickup here, Kumari Hudson, offensive

lineman from Chesapeake, Virginia, a four-star prospect in the 24-7 sports composite, committing to Tennessee on Saturday, picking the balls over Virginia Tech.

This was a three-team race at one point down the stretch with Virginia being the other contender.

He eliminated Virginia from consideration and moved up his official visit to Tennessee to last weekend and wasn't just, you know, sold right away on it being Tennessee.

It was, it was, he was admitted he was really leading to Virginia Tech going into the official visit.

And then I think the last weekend in Knoxville kind of kind of swayed him once he went home and talked about things with his family and everything, just decided it made sense.

And obviously excited about the chance to play in the SEC.

And Tennessee, you know, we weren't sure where they were going to end up with some of these offensive line targets that they've been hosting on official visits

and been in the mix for in recent weeks. They only had one offensive line commitment in Princeton

UEFO, the four-star tackle from Murphy's Borough that they'd had for several months now. And,

you know, just weren't sure which of these targets was most likely to fall their way. But I always

kind of had

Kumari Hudson in mind as one of those guys that looked like a realistic option. And Tennessee

did a nice job with them and had him on campus for spring practice back in March as well to

kind of put them in his top three or so. It looked like they were a serious contender from that

point forward. But it really was the official visit last weekend. It sounds like that swung this one in Tennessee's direction and a nice win here

for the balls because, you know, I talked to some people who thought James Franklin in his first

year at Virginia Tech really might put up a big fight in this one down the stretch to try to keep him

in state, but it sounds like Tennessee was able to hold off the Hokies down the stretch and get this one done.

So nice pickup there.
