podcast. I'm the host Scott Feinberg and today my guest is the brilliant

actor Vigo Mordenson. The 58-year-old is of course best known for his portrayal of Aragorn in Peter Jackson's landmark Lord of the Rings trilogy which spanned 2001 through 2003.

But he was working for years before that and he has done much of his best work since.

I'm referring to his performances in three very different films with David Cronenberg,

2005's A History of Violence, 2007's Eastern Promises for which he received a best actor Oscar nomination,

and 2011's a dangerous method.

His underappreciated work in John Hillcoat's 2009 literary adaptation The Road, and most recently what is, in my humble

opinion, his finest acting yet in Matt Ross's 2016 dramedy Captain Fantastic, in which he plays a former college professor

raising his six kids off the grid in the Pacific Northwest. For it, Mortenson

has been nominated for the Best Actor in a Drama Golden Globe Award and is nominated for the Best Actor in a Drama Golden Globe Award and is nominated

for the Best Actor SAG and BAFTA Awards. A Best Actor Oscar nomination now
