Summary

In early December 2022, dismembered body parts were found scattered over a 3 mile radius in Georgia. The Jane Doe remained anonymous for 6 months, but due to genetic geneology, her identity was discovered. The victim was 40-year old Mindi Kassotis. Her parents were shocked to learn that she had not only been murdered, but dismembered, because they had been told Mindi died at a hospital from a stroke. Authorities then arrested Mindi’s husband, Nicholas Kassotis, a veteran and former navy judge advocate. This episode contains coverage from Day 1 of his trial. And today I have a bit of a difference format for you. I usually cover one case and one or two episodes and then I move on to the next one. But today I am bringing you a breaking case, a case that is actively being tried by the court system as I released this episode on
0:22.1	August 11, 2025. You may recall a few months ago, I told you about my new podcast that I co-host
0:27.9	called The Alternate Inside America's Biggest Trials. We covered the Karen Reed retrial in season one,
0:34.1	the Sean Colmes federal trial in season two, and we just launched season 3 last week.
0:40.4	And we are following the trial of Georgia versus Nicholas Cosodis.
0:44.6	Now, Nicholas Cosodis is a former active duty Navy JAG.
0:48.4	That's right.
0:49.2	So what I think about when I think of an active duty Navy JAG is I think of a few good men. People who are
0:55.8	above board, dressed to the tea, and just always follow the rules. Well, this case is far from a few
1:02.7	good men. Nicholas Cosodas left active duty after serving 10 years or something like that to pursue
1:08.5	other endeavors. But now he stands accused of murdering his second wife, dismembering her, and then lying
1:15.5	to her family about how she passed away, then marrying a third woman all before he was
1:21.1	ultimately caught.
1:22.5	Of course, disclaimer, Nicholas Cosodis is innocent until proving guilty in a court of law.
