0:04.5	I have a special guest and him and I are going to have a special conversation. I think it's a topic that we should all be talking about and it's the importance of keeping our kids safe online. Listen, it's back to school season and this is a really important topic.

0:26.1	I didn't have a computer in my house until I was in high school.
0:34.0	And then it was the dial-up kind that took what feels like now would have felt like eight years to connect to the internet.
0:40.1	But nowadays, our kids come home from school with laptops and iPads issued to them by the school. With the advent of YouTube and Roblox, our kids are more connected than ever before.
0:47.7	But how do we as parents keep them safe? Today, I have the pleasure of letting you in on a conversation
0:54.0	that I had with Tom Arnold.
0:55.9	He's a cybersecurity expert and an educator. He is also the author of a kid's book titled
1:01.3	The Digital Detective, where kids can learn the basics of online anonymity and cybersecurity,
1:07.8	but not like in a textbook-style learning environment. They learn it through fiction and
1:14.3	through storytelling because online we are all what we say we are, right? So real quick, before I
1:20.7	start today, I wanted to tell you about a few news stories that caused me pause and it really
1:25.8	made me want to share this conversation with you.
1:28.1	There was an article from 2022 where there was a mom who was extremely furious when she learned
1:33.9	that her eight-year-old daughter was playing Roblox when someone asked her for her phone number
1:38.9	using the chat feature in the game. The little girl innocently gave this person her phone number because she did
1:45.3	have a cell phone by that point and her and this person began sending messages. It turns out that
1:51.1	this person was a grown man, but she didn't know that. Now, the man was asking the little girl
1:56.9	to send innocent pictures and videos of herself. And the more pictures she sent, the more he tried to coach her on the different types
2:03.1	of pictures and videos that he wanted.
2:06.3	Well, thankfully, the mom caught on and stopped the conversation before anything could
