Our guest on this episode is novelist Veronica Roth, the number one New York Times best-selling author of the

Blockbuster Divergent series of books. Divergent came out when Veronica was just 22 years old,

and the movie adaptation was number one at the box office on its opening weekend.

Veronica has written a highly anticipated new adult fantasy novel called Chosen Ones.

She's had an amazing career with millions of fans around the world. And Veronica, we thank you

so much for joining us. Yeah, thank you for having me. Tell us at what point in life that you

realized writing was what you wanted to do. You know, this is kind of a strange question for me.

I'm not a strange question, but my answer is a bit strange in that I'd never articulated

it to myself in such a clear way.

There was just only one activity that I really liked doing.

And so I just was always doing it.

And it wasn't until I was in college that I started

to think, like, well, you know, people do get paid for this. So maybe I could do it for work.

You certainly achieved that. You wrote Divergent when you were 22 years old and that sold more

than 32 million copies,

which is just so unbelievable.

That number is so crazy.

Did you expect anything like that?

You know, I didn't expect it.

I think that would be quite a bit to expect.
