I'm your host, retired NYPD Sergeant Bill Cannon, a 27-year veteran of the NYPD.

We have a very important guest tonight.

He's been on a couple of times before, but he has

so much to say because he's been on this earth a long time. So we've got to give him more time

to say the things he wants to say. And he happens to be the author of the Bible of homicide

investigation, practical homicide investigation, Vernon Geberth,

a former lieutenant squad commander, and I have the incorrect edition. I have the fourth edition.

It's actually up to the fifth edition right now. And this is a fabulous book. I used to use

it when I was teaching at a college. I also used it just for everyday homicide. I was in Manhattan North homicide. I would go to it for referring to things and see what I was doing right, maybe what I was doing wrong. And it's an outstanding book. I'm not trying to

sell the book, but if anyone wants to buy it, it's available on Amazon and it is up to the fifth

edition. And then we have this little Buffy book here, The Godfather of Homicide, Vernon Gibbeth,

a cop's cop. And very interesting, war stories, and, you know, cops love to tell war stories, you know.

And if the alcohol is flowing, the war stories don't stop, you know.

But we try to tell them when we're sober, though, you know.

And that's the more interesting ones, because when you tell them when you're sober,

most of the stuff you say is true.

When you start knocking down coronas or scotches, then, you know, maybe they get a little bit enhanced.

You know, the information goes out there.

Anyway, so we got retired NYPD squad commander, Lieutenant Vernon Geberth.
