Hello, everyone. This is moderate rebels. I'm Ben Norton. I'm joined by a good friend of the show,

Diego Sequeira, a Venezuelan journalist, our go-to Venezuela correspondent, if you will.

And today we're talking about the mega elections that were just held in Venezuela on

November 21st. These were municipal and regional elections. They were referred to as mega elections

because there were tens of thousands of candidates all across the country in every single state

in Venezuela, which is a pretty big country in

terms of Latin America, 30 million people. Here is a map showing the results of the election

on November 21st. As you can see here, the leftist United Socialist Party of Venezuela

won in a landslide here in this image.

The red states aptly the red are the areas in which the socialist party won.

That is the ruling party of Venezuela, the PSUV, and the blue states are the areas in which the right-wing opposition won.

So Venezuela has 23 states.

So the PSUV, that is the socialist party, won in 20 of those states, and then the right-wing

opposition won in three of those states.

The socialist party also won in the capital Krakas. So this is a

landslide victory after the vote on November 21st. There was a hashtag that was trending on

social media, which was arraso el chavismo, which is Chavismo won in a landslide.

Chavismo crushed.

So this, by all accounts, any objective viewer can see that this was a clear democratic

mandate for the Bolivarian Revolution of Venezuela, for the leftist Chavista movement, and for President

Nicolas Maduro.
