Welcome to our Rosary Meditation.

Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

Now, as we travel toward the Feast of Pentecost, we want to remove the vices that block the Holy Spirit from acting more powerfully in our lives.

Pride is the root of all sin, and vanity is the first of the seven deadly sins.

You know, in almost four years of rosary meditations, I've never done one on vanity,

probably because I'm vain. Now, vanity is the disordered concern for

self-image. It's the vice of caring too much about what other people think of us, especially people who aren't intimate with us.

So many of us care more about what strangers think of us than the people who really know us.

And we're tempted to give more energy to being liked or esteemed by colleagues or competitors or even strangers or posting on social media,

instead of putting real effort into talking and listening to our spouse or our kids or elderly parents,

we're getting coffee with a friend.

It's amazing how we are angels abroad and demons at home, and at the root of all this is the deadly

sin of vanity.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallow it be your name. Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us to stay our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses

as we forgive those who trespass against us

and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us for me,

Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
