Coming up on the Peston podcast, one of the great scandals, the many scandals of the COVID crisis is that vaccines have not been available in poorer countries.

Now that's obviously terrible in the poor countries themselves.

It's something terrible for brass because with COVID raging in the rest of the world,

we can't keep it out of this country. We can't keep variants out of this country.

One of the reasons why the virus is currently spreading fast again in the UK is because of the

delta variant, which we imported from India when the Prime Minister was, I would say, slow

to put India on the red list.

Now, the Prime Minister is chairing, a meeting of the world's richest countries,

the G7 in Corbyn over the coming few days.

Top of the agenda is how much vaccine

the rich countries will donate to the poorer countries.

Another big issue of the moment is the blistering round

that we are having, we guessed it, in the European Union.

We may have left the EU, but I'm afraid our battles

in the EU go on.

Now, on this occasion, the tension is over that barrier, that

border that the Prime Minister agreed to put in the middle of the Irish Sea that means that there

are checks on meats, on a whole variety of products, going from Great Britain to Northern Ireland.

Now, at the end of June, the EU is going to ban the sale of English, British,

sausages in Northern Ireland.

The island says he's not going to have any of that.

So a trade war looms.
