Summary

Especially under stress, it's easy to get caught in a pattern of using critical words with our children. Can you relate? Instead of tearing down, God's word encourages us to harness the tongue for building-up, giving grace, and pointing our children towards their ultimate source of life. In this episode, Emily and Laura discuss the importance of practicing this skill with our children, and share practical ways to get started. We won't be perfect, but we can keep choosing words that speak truth, along with a heaping dose of love.

using life-giving words with our kids, honoring our children with our words, being gracious and

kind and I don't know, affirming to them. It's one of those, sometimes a lost art these days to

do this thing. Yeah, it's a lost art and yet like a huge thing that I feel like our culture, you

1:11.2

know, emphasizes and talks about positivity and, you know, being kind, but it's hard to do.

1:18.9

Yeah, and at that, like I feel like I'm a pretty like puppy-friendly person and I've just been

1:24.2

amazed, especially since bringing our fourth child into the world, like how under stress it can

be extremely difficult to control the tongue. Yeah, exactly. And I mean, we want to do a whole show

on just like, I don't know, saying mean things. So at some point we will do that, but today we're

Emily, just like how, I don't know, have you noticed like your kids picking up on things that you've

2:00.4

been saying like just to your husband or other, you know, people? Well, we're just getting into that

2:04.4

stage where like we have to be careful about saying names in front of our children because our

oldest now knows who people are. But it's the other day we're driving in the car and my oldest
