So we're starting to see an interesting pattern emerge across different controversies that seem like they have nothing to do with each other.

0:16.0

Public schools across this country were closed for the better part of year,

0:20.0

creating a systematic inequality amongst kids who went to public schools versus the

0:25.5

smarter private schools that didn't close and that's going to last a generation

0:29.2

and we're going to have to pay for it. That's as it relates to school closures.

0:32.4

Now you go to similarly ongoing risk

0:36.5

factors today, let's say the war in Ukraine, this idea that deterring Putin is an unknown. Is he going to go for Poland? Is he not? We can't say for sure, but on the current facts, what do we know?

1:22.4

however fringe that possibility may be,

1:25.3

that then wins the day again to do what would be the so-called cautious thing to do.

1:29.3

Give so far a hundred billion dollars plus in aid to Ukraine and counting.

1:34.0

You're seeing a pattern here where the so-called safe thing to do, school closures on the one hand,

1:38.4

100 plus billion dollars in aid that could have been spent on different

1:42.0

domestic priority agendas or even foreign policy

1:43.9

priority agendas.

1:45.6

What it sounds like the safe thing isn't really actually the safe thing at all.

1:49.0
