The White House says President Donald Trump is, quote, very confident in his top trade officials who are said to meet with their Chinese counterparts in Geneva over the weekend.

Both sides will talk about de-escalating their trade war, with the future of the global

economy potentially riding on their success. On truth social, Trump seemed to float the idea of lowering

tariffs on most Chinese imports from 145% to 80%. But White House press secretary Caroline Levitt says,

The president still remains with his position that he is not going to unilaterally bring down tariffs on China.

We need to see concessions from them as well.

And again, that's part of the reason that Secretary Besson is going to talk to his Chinese

counterparts this weekend to start those discussions in person.

As for the 80 percent number, that was a number the president threw out there, and we'll see what

happens this weekend.

On social media, Trump also appeared open to raising taxes on both the Americans to help pay

for Republicans sweeping tax and spending cuts package.

House GOP lawmakers have been struggling to find $1.5 trillion in cuts to help offset trillions of dollars

of tax reductions. Now to the latest on the border conflict between India and Pakistan.

The chief minister of Indian-controlled Kashmir wrote on X that the sound of explosions resumed

in Jammuz city today, along with a blackout.

A defense spokesperson based in Jammuz said drones have been cited and are, quote,

being engaged in the contested region, as well as in the Indian state of Punjab, and blackouts are also in effect. The rivals have repeatedly accused each other of launching aerial attacks

since the conflict escalated on Wednesday.

A Pakistani security source said India carried out drone attacks on Pakistan early this morning.
