As the world continued to react on Friday to the surprising news that the next leader of the Catholic Church would be an American,

Pope Leo the 14th got the work.

As we celebrate this morning, I invite you to recognize the marvels that the Lord has done,

the blessings that the Lord continues to pour out upon all of us.

We heard him briefly speak English as he led his first homily,

where he urged cardinals to make themselves, quote, small as to not obscure the glory of Christ.

We also learned a little more about the man formerly known as Robert Prevost from Chicago.

We still talk every day, though.

Really? Did you talk to him today? What do you say?

Are the reporters gone? I said, no. He said, okay, goodbye.

His brother John spoke to my colleague Whitney Wilde. And John confirmed what I most wanted to know. He said the new pope is a fan of the

Chicago White Sox, not the Cubs, as previously reported. Anyway, John also talked about what it was

like growing up with Robert and their older brother, Lewis.

All three of us were altar boys, so that's the church connection again.

As family life, we were through three guys and sometimes you know how three boys can...

you know, they gain so much and you gain so much,
