Take a gap This is a big attack.

Make a man! This is hell.

The Arab Spring of 2010 and 2011 gave hope to the people of Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Yemen, Syria, and Bahrain, that they were finally going to be able to be free from the persistent shackles of colonialism and might have democracy of their very own rule by the people instead of being ruled by outsiders or their proxies in what was dubiously being called an era of post-colonialism.

The media industry ate up the story, not because of the brave people who had taken to the streets to denounce authoritarianism,

which were often U.S. supported and funded authoritarians, although that was rarely reported in the media.

What was repeated over and over again in the media was not the democratizing power of the people,

but the democratization brought to the Arab world by the Internet and social media platforms like Facebook and Google.

What was once known as the Information Super Highway and had morphed into nothing more than e-commerce

was now being repackaged as a savior of democracy, which had taken its lumps since the emergence of exploitative neoliberalism.

Fifteen years ago, the media was telling us to all hail the great and glorious Oz

that Big Tech was going to save the world from tyrants.

When it turns out, in fact fact they are the tyrants.

Fast forward to today in those same platforms that the media industry was promising to bring

us democracy, bring the world democracy, have now instead become tools of oppression

to reinforce colonialism instead of freeing the world from tyrannical occupation.

Case in point, the collusion of U.S. big tech corporations with the state of Israel in their ongoing

campaign of erasing Palestinian history, culture, and the people themselves.
