Hey everyone, welcome to our new series here at EM Clerkship. It's called Upstairs. This new content will explore some high-yield pearls and key medications we are exposed to on off-service rotations. I've named this series upstairs as a kind reminder that consults are often like upstairs neighbors. Everything is easier when we all get along.

If you haven't heard from me yet, I'm Isabel.

Hi. I'm one of the newest members of the EM clerkship team.

As an intern resident, I have been spending quite a lot of time outside of the department,

and not based on any real cases that I have had while on rotations. All right, let's get to the episode.

Today, we are taking a trip to the psychiatric emergency department.

Now, we all see many, many patients with psychiatric complaints or history in our general ERs.

However, I've had the opportunity to spend time in some specialized psychiatric facilities designed

1:45.8

to treat patients in need of acute psychiatric care.

At a glance today, we'll look at one psychiatric pearl and three psychiatric medications

I pulled from these experiences.
