So you can tell it was a brand new year on this week's episode of AEW Dynamite because not only do we have a brand new entranceway, the heel and face tunnel seemed like they're done. But Jim Ross was back when we learned the Don Callis family in demand very likely beat up jet speed. So Jungle Boy, no longer has a partner when he gets to his match later on. But all of a sudden, Mark Davis and Jake, something walked in. And Jake was like, ha ha. Well, he wasn't. Don Callis was like he's now part of Don Callis family. So he just debuted. And also, what the flub is the Callis family going to do? They have too many members. If they have a party, somebody's going to be left out. Also, hello, my friends. Welcome to Up and the Downs. The only wrestling of you show you need. Like I say, it is 2026. So I hope you're having a great new year, but the same old nonsense

does roll on for reasons that we'll have to questions until we do die. There's a bit much.

Let's give the good bits and a bad bit of down for our dynamite.

What a terrific start we did have after this intro as well, because it was a continental classic

Eliminator, whatever the flood we're calling it, between Shelton Benjamin and John Moxley,

I'm just going to stand here and clap. Sometimes nerds like you and I sit down and go,

well, seriously, wrestling needs to feel like a fight. It doesn't feel like a fight,

or Shelton and Moxley walked out there, and good grief, they went to roar. If you have 20 minutes a day, you should sit down and watch this. I thought it ruled. That time now it does turn in as well because, of course, it is fought under content of classic rules. So you can't have interference, you can't have run-ins. And that also meant MVP just had to do commentary. But this went all the way basically to the last five seconds. Some people thought Shelton Benjamin was going to do it, and some people thought John Moxie was going to do it. It was just such a well-worked wrestling match. The key word there is wrestling because they grappled and they fought and they scratched and they clawed. Both really felt they wanted to win. And when, spoiler, Shelton Benjamin didn't. He looked like a sad

dude. Moxie even slapped away a handshake to start all this to let him know he was being serious, but honestly, I suppose because Shelton Benjamin was going to be defeated, he was allowed so much here. He was jumping off Barry Barracade. He was doing these death German suplexes. At one point from nowhere he just leapt to the top rope

and hurled John Moxie across the ring.

I absolutely would watch the best of seven between these guys. I don't know where that came from, but I don't just want three, I don't just want four, I want seven. Unless somebody of course wins like four matches, or maybe three matches. I don't know I'm tired did start to tease the time limit as well because Justin Roberts is all like

10 minutes, 5 minutes. And that is when Chale and Benjamin did hit the payd up for a 1-2. And yes, he had the triangle locked in, Moxley panicked, when he essentially reversed it into the most devastating move. In all a sports entertainment, there's a prize roll-up. And like I say, I think you got the three count with about five seconds to go.

That's how you use that move.

You could rematch these two and nobody with mine. I'm giving it up. They're also very nice to each other afterwards because they earned the respect. This is the kind of wrestling I want. Darby Allen was then looking for pack, which was actually very, very apt, because I've been looking for Pact too, because he's vanished recently.

Well, we also got a big old video reminding you that MGF and Kenny Omega had a confrontation last week. What the hell was going to happen there? Very nicely, too, Excalibur shouted at Tana Hashdi, who did retire this weekend. And we talked about this on raw ups and downs. if you haven't seen that match with Okada, you really should seek it out.

I mean, talk about making you feel warm and fuzzy in your tum-tum, while also having water coming at your seeing devices. One last salute to that guy, a genuine goat. When it turned out, we were just going to go full, baby face, and I guess wink and nod to the early days of AEW because Jack Perry had indeed found a partner

to take on the demand. It was the young bucks. They came back with their OG entrance. Everybody loved it.

They were doing super kicks and all kinds of things. It just made you go, well, isn't wrestling when it tries

a lovely thing. Stupidest thing. I've ever said it in my entire life, but Jack Perry's being super-duper

baby-faced so with the young bucks, the demand was selling the ass off until Bishop

Khan went nuts and was throwing people into all our wrestling ringside friends. This was just a super

fun party match. I don't know who timed this, I don't know who wrote this down a piece of paper,
