We're now a couple days removed from Notre Dame's 56 to 30 victory over the Purdue Boilermakers in their third game of the season,

0:30.6

picking up their first win on the year, Brian.

0:33.6

There's a lot to go over.

0:35.2

And the last couple of days, you and I have been diving into the film and we've been talking about, you know, things offensively and defensively that we liked and didn't like and needs to get improved as the season progresses, which is why we're doing a pun for the review today, man. Part one of today's show we are going to be diving into just after we've revisited the film, talking about what we liked on offense, what we liked on defense, some things that have to get adjusted on both sides of the ball, after we've digested the film, because obviously in the post game show, a lot of it was initial gut reactions.

1:05.0

There were some things that we had to go back and dive into and look at.

1:08.9

Part two, we're going into Keys to Victory revisited, man, and we're talking offense, defense, revisiting what they may have checked off on the list and where they fell a little bit short. And then part three, Brian, you guys know what it is. You got to make sure that you're a premium message board subscriber, boards that irishbreakdown.com. That's when we're going to take a deep dive into the All-22 film,

1:28.4

and we're going to really put on screen what went well, what didn't go well for Notre Dame's offense and Notre Dame's defense. But Brian, one of my favorite shows to listen to. It's awesome to be on this side of the chair. I'm ready to rock and roll. Yeah, I'm excited about it, Trev. This is always one of my favorite shows because any coach, any analyst, any fan, when you rewatch the game, there's going to be things that usually, not always, usually, there are things you watch.

1:54.9

You know what, that was actually a little better than I thought, or not as good as I thought, or different than I thought.

2:00.2

I thought it was this guy's fault. It was that guy's fault. There's times I've watched games and there's a miscoverage or a blown coverage or something or a mistackle. For example, you think of the long run Ohio State had last year. And I'm watching it live. I'm like, man, not a good job by Drake Bowen. Then you go watch the film when you realize it's Jack Kaiser that hit the wrong gap. Drake was trying to recover from that, and that's what resolved in a big play, not calling anybody out. It just, you know, it just happens. And then sometimes it's like, boy, I thought, you know, I thought the defense did a nice job here. and I thought this guy made the play. You go back and watch the film. Oh, did you see that job by the detackle that I didn't see live, you know, or whatever the case may be? And you get a chance to kind of take a little bit of a bird's eye view on different things, evaluate different things. You know, you're sitting there watching the game live and you're like, okay, I get why Texas, excuse me, why Notre Dame ran the ball so much on Purdue.

2:53.6

So I did a film breakdown on that.

2:55.2

And you realize it's, it's not so much that Notre Dame just was going at a three man front.

2:59.5

You realize specifically that, okay, Purdue was going to a four, three personnel when Notre

3:05.8

name went 12 personnel.

3:07.4

When they went 11 personnel, they went

3:09.2

with 3-3-5 personnel. And it took Notre Dame about a series and a half to like, okay, confirm,

3:14.4

this is what they're doing. And then they just started rolling them. And you realize, like,

3:19.2

first two drives, very balanced. Second, third, fourth, and fifth drives, all runs, basically. Second half, Purdue makes an adjustment, and the Nurname offense goes back to being balanced. And you realize, like, what a great job by Mike Denbrook. Like, you knew he was taking advantage of, you knew he and the staff were taking advantage of, you know, kind of the alignment you were saying. But then you realize, like, okay, this is what they saw. That's why there was 11 and 12 early, but only 11. Once they started running the ball, it was all out of 11 personnel. Like, they ran like over 10 straight runs and it was all out of 11 personnel, not 12 personnel. Why is that? And then you realize it it and you don't really at least i didn't

3:58.9

really get it to that degree till after you go back and dive into the film and and that's what i love

4:03.2

about the film sessions treb and and you get a chance to look at the defense and you know breaking it down

4:08.2

and there's things that you're like yep it was as bad as i thought it was a couple things you're like

4:12.4

okay yes that is where a player has to execute better,
