Welcome back to another edition of the Irish Breakdown podcast presented by our friends at Fandul.

And we, Brian, are going to break down the keys to victory.

And this is what we affectionately like to call the Keys to Victory revisited.

And we're going to go through all the things that Brian and Trevor talked about during the

week and what they thought would be a key to victory for Notre Dame to get the victory

against NC State, which obviously they did 36 to 7.

And so we're going to go back and we are going to talk about offense first.

Then we're going to hit defense and see if Notre Dame did what they needed to do based on the keys to victory. Ready to roll, Brian? Dude, I am I am definitely ready to roll, ready to get this thing going. And it's always more fun to do this, as we always say, when you are coming off of a big win, which Notre Dame got. That would be an understatement, no doubt about that. It's always, I hate watching the film when Notre Dame loses. I absolutely hate it. Fortunately, we haven't had to do that a whole lot the last couple of years. This is correct. This is correct. It's fun to follow a winner. There is no doubt about that. So obviously, Notre Dame got the W this week.

Let's see how they did on their keys to victory. Number one, if anybody has been following along, number one is always the same because it's very, very important. And it's start fast, Brian. And they don't consistently do it. This is a minus. And they were great at it for a couple weeks. This is a minus. It looked like it was going to be a plus, Vince, because you take the opening drive right down the field, and it was easy. Will Pauling wide open for 32 yards. Two plays later, you know, he makes a game for 19 yards wide open again. And then three plays later, Jeremiah Love basically walks into the end zone for a touchdown.

Force of three and out on defense.

Your first play, the next play, you know, one-yard completion,

then that was the next play was the slot fade to Will Pauling for a 42-yard gain.

So, like, you are what?

What did the offense run in their first drive?

You are eight plays into the game, and Will Pauling already has 93 yards receiving in the game, and you're just like eight plays into the game. And it's just he's like wide open every time. And this one was like a great route. And then you get to, you know, that's one kind of some of the weirdness starts. You get a false start penalty that gets into third and 10. CJ hits J. Jordan Faison on a tunnel screen that he does a great job moving the chains. Jeremiah runs for four, then runs for five. Then they get stuffed on third and short, the third and one. And just there was a play. I think Ashton Craig got got stuffed up the middle and then fourth down, CJ gets sacked on a play again. I just, I didn't like the play call. You ran a play that worked for you, but because you ran it from the far hash, you're going to be further away from your receiver and they're going to be lined up more outside. So you lose the leverage battle that's exactly what happened if you go back and watch the play and actually we'll break it down

the difference in how that this the angle that

CJ had to throw he had no angle because you were running that play from the far hash

and so like you you're you're getting you're on the verge of fast start you're on the

verge of being up 14 nothing and NC State has done nothing but a couple three and outs

...
