The international community is stepping up diplomatic efforts as the situation across the Israel-Lebbonon border continues to deteriorate.

After an intense gathering at the UN General Assembly last night, the U.S. and some of its

allies have called for a 21-day ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.

The two sides have yet to agree to the plan, but U.S. officials say both parties were familiar

with the proposal and voiced optimism knowing it would be

revealed publicly. But as CNN's Paula Hancock's explains, the negotiations will take

place as things are moving quickly on the ground.

It does seem a very tall order to be able to push this ceasefire through, especially as we are now

hearing more direct suggestions from the Israeli military that there will be a ground incursion into

southern Lebanon. The idea of saying that the aerial bombardment on Hezbollah targets over the past week has been to allow a ground offensive to go ahead.

We also know that the IDF has called up two reserve brigades to the area as well. Another suggestion that at least the

preparations are in place but potentially the political will is there as well.

Sources tell CNN that New York's mayor Eric Adams has been indicted on at least one federal criminal charge.

This follows a months long federal investigation by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan.
