Kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart back in 2002 was one of the most notorious cases in American history. We all remember it.

And in a shocking development, one of her captors is about to walk free.

Wanda Barzee, who was convicted of helping her husband, Brian Mitchell, kidnap Elizabeth Smart,

will be released in just seven days.

That's years ahead of the schedule.

In episode 32, I discussed the kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart in June of 2002.

Brian David Mitchell, a man who believed himself to be a prophet, crept into the smart home

in the dead of night.

He went into Elizabeth's room while she slept next to her young sister, Mary Catherine.

Mitchell would put a knife to Elizabeth's neck and take her out of her home. They would travel into the woods and up the side of a mountain to an encampment

where Elizabeth would come face to face with a woman named Wanda Barzee.

Wanda Barzee was Brian David Mitchell's wife, and she was his accomplice.

The pair shackled, beat, and sexually abused Elizabeth daily for nine months before she was

rescued from her captors.
