The Apex and the Abyss presents the chasm, Episode 9, The Beast of Jersey.

Near the coast of Normandy, France, there are the Channel Islands, and among these islands,

the largest, is the Ballowick of Jersey, or just Jersey for short. The island itself

is about 45 square miles, and houses around 100,000 occupants. The weather is considered mild at best, even in the dead of winter

or summer. Simply put, it's a gorgeous place. If you're into beautiful weather, breathtaking

scenery, and things of that nature, this would be the place for you. But despite all of that

beauty and perfection, there is a dark underbelly of this island,

lurking in the shadows and drowned out by the sounds of the ocean crashing on the nearby

rocks, is a beast of the most deplorable nature.

The first known attacks of the beast were similar in the ways in which he obtained his victims. The beast looked for women

who were waiting or walking near bus stops. This man would take a rope and put it around each

woman's neck. He would then drag them to a nearby field, where he would physically and sexually

assault them. This occurred at least four times before the beast changed up his methods.

He started to target older women and young boys.

He grew more daring, and he would creep into the homes of his victims,

tie a rope around their neck, and drag them out into the open.

He did this to a 12-year-old boy on February 14, 1960.

He raped the young boy.

In March, the beast struck multiple times.

He would ask a 25-year-old woman walking down the street at night if she would like a ride,
