A quick update today from outside Preston Crown Court at about 4 o'clock.

And that's because today, Jamie Varley has faced some pretty tough questions.

Today, he's been accused of using Preston as his plaything.

Of causing horrific injuries by sexually abusing him.

Of deliberately blocking his airway, causing him to perish.

And then inventing a cock and bull story that Preston had drowned in the bath in order to cover up what he'd done.

So we're going to bring you all of the details, as usual, on Friday,

in our sort of longer episode that we're always bringing you twice a week, Tuesdays and Fridays.

But we did think today was a day worth marking because what's been

happening in the last few hours here in court is that Jamie Varley's story has been picked apart

by the prosecutor who of course is called Peter Wright, Casey. Yep, that's right. So it's day

three of Jamie Varley giving evidence in his own defence. Remember,

he's already answered questions from his own barrister last week and from the barrister of John

McGowan for Zachley. We brought you all of that in episodes on Friday and on Tuesday. Now, yesterday,

one of the jurors was sick, so we didn't sit at all.

And today, Caroline, as you said, it was Peter Wright's turn,

and at times his exchanges with Jamie Varley were challenging and very dramatic.
