Hey everyone welcome back to another episode of up-tempo talks. This is Coach Rory Moynihan. This is Coach Tawn Bellis. And today we're going to be talking to you about running through adversity. To clarify what I mean by that is how do you run when your personal life is stressful or

you're just feeling overwhelmed by like current events and especially what's

happening in the news we thought it was appropriate to at least reference what's happening in the news. We thought it was appropriate to at least reference

what's going on right now. I know a lot of runners and just individuals in

general are feeling, yeah, just bombarded by these turbulent times and all the stuff that's happening in the news.

So I think a good place to start before we get into giving some tips on when you should run and when you should perhaps consider taking a break or some time off.

Let's just share our own personal experiences.

When are some situations where Coach Dylan, you have run through adversity,

and how did that affect your training?

Did you alter what you were doing at the time?

Yeah, absolutely.

So, I mean, there's obviously a lot of things

that a lot of us have times in which we can we can go back and

see that you know this was really stressful everybody has and reacts to their

own stresses very differently so you know what is really stressful and causes a lot of, you know, suffering

or pain for one person may be different to another person. You know, one of the bigger

stresses that I had in my life was I you know in my in my early 20s I had moved to

Flagstaff and where we currently live and I just tried to make things work I

had graduated started grad grad school, and I just, I determined, I found out really quickly that I was not prepared for grad school. I was not in a good place. I had come out of some pretty tough times that the year before after college

and just an overall very depressive sort of mindset and I couldn't get myself to to do a lot of things that I wanted to do.

So I I failed out of graduate school and I dropped out because I wasn't ready like I was not doing well at my job and I just kind of reached a dead end and so I moved

back to North Carolina moved in with my parents briefly just to kind of get back
