Summary

There are only two women named in the Doctrine and Covenants, but Church history is filled with stories of strong women of the Restoration. And thanks to diaries, recorded speeches, and family histories, we know many of their names. This bonus series will serve as a companion to our weekly Come, Follow Me podcast this year. And today's episode features two young sisters, without whom we wouldn't have the pages recording the early revelations of this standard work.

Teach kids about the Rollins Sisters with the animated scripture stories on churchofjesuschrist.org.

1:36.4

Hello, Jenny. Oh, hey, Tammy. I'm so excited to be here with you. This is going to be the best.

1:43.9

The best year ever. Because we were talking that if there was ever a book of scripture that had the least amount of women named, it's the doctrine and covenants because there's just two women, right? Emma and Vienna Jakes. Is that correct? Yes. But there are so many women that help lay the foundation of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. And their stories have to be told. And so Jenny and I sat down one afternoon. She came up at the list. And it was pretty exhaustive. And we had to, we usually only do six episodes, but we got permission for eight because we were like, we just, we can't, like we had to tell the eight stories.

2:21.1

There's clearly more. I mean, it was so hard, wasn't it? It was. It was ridiculous. I mean, these ladies are all my favorites. Yes. Well, and I love how you say these are her ladies. And that's my favorite thing about Jenny. Whenever she talks about church history women, she always says, this is my lady. These are my women. They're my host.
