I don't know how to start this episode today. I've wrestled with this all day.

Ten years ago, I lived in San Diego, California, and at that time in my life, this was before I was

married, before I had children, when I had a little more time on my hands. I read books all the time. I read about a book every week. My goal every year was to read 50 books every year. And I oftentimes exceeded that goal. And I have this memory. It's one of those

crystal clear memories in my mind of sitting on the couch at my boyfriend's apartment,

he's now my husband, reading a book, which was something I did on a regular daily basis. But it was

the first time that day that I had ever read a book, and I read all kinds of books. It was the first

time that I'd ever read a book that made me physically dizzy to read.

It had a physiological impact on my body, reading the contents of that book.

The book was by Phileem McAleer, an investigative journalist, and he was writing about Kermit Gosnell,

Dr. Kermit Gosnell, who was a late-term abortionist.

And he reported in this book, what happened?

He reported the atrocities.

These babies whose necks were snipped with scissors and jars of baby feet and hands

sitting around this abortion clinic.

And it was the most gruesome thing that I'd ever read. And it was a moment, pardon me, that I'll never

forget. Because I've read a lot of history books. I've read a lot of accounts, anecdotal accounts,
