The outpouring of memories and condolences on social media speaks to how beloved Michael Brooks was across the left and to the enormous influence he had on a generation of people.

I'll quote a tribute by my friend and colleague Luke Savage, who wrote,

The news about Michael Brooks hits like a brick to the stomach. I'm proud to have known him and will

never forget his kindness, sense of humor, and incredible international perspective he brought to his

work. I'll miss him tremendously, and so will the entire socialist left.

Less than 24 hours ago, Luke and I had exchanged emails with Michael

to set up another appearance on the show to talk about his new book from Zero Books,

Against the Web, a cosmopolitan answer to the new right,

which, of course course we highly recommend

you pick up. I'm sorry that this was not to be, but I hope that you enjoy this opportunity to

revisit Michael doing one of the things he did best, which was making fun of Dave Rubin.
