a Twitter thread of mine asking people to share their worst freelance experiences. I shared

one of mine. But Will and I were both interested that so many of the people who replied

seemed to come out of games journalism and I was speculating in a very uninformed way about why this might be,

idly wondering if there were structural reasons that the freelance experience might be even worse in games journalism than it is elsewhere.

Coming to my rescue, though, was friend of the show Henry Gilbert of the Talking Simpsons podcast.

Henry spoke to me about his experiences working in gaming journalism, experiences both he and his co-host of Talking Simpsons, Bob Mackie,

I understand had before they started their incredibly successful Patreon,
