1.3.30 and 31. And because of him, you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God,

righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption, so that as it is written let the one who boasts

boast in the Lord. I love this picture at the end of 1st Corinthians chapter 1 of what it means to be

in Christ Jesus because of God and His grace in your life. That's the whole lead up to this Jesus. Because of God and His grace in your life, that's the whole lead-up to this verse,

because of God's grace and calling your name and drawing you to himself as your child. You,

so this is talking about all who have trusted in Jesus, the Savior and Lord of your life. You are in

Christ Jesus. And this is language we see all throughout the New Testament. You're in Christ. Christ is in you. The whole picture of union with Jesus. Your life is united with Jesus in such a way that he becomes to us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption and so many other things.

The illustration, it always comes to my mind when I read this verse, is when Heather and I were

getting married.

And in the days leading up to us getting married, I'm a year younger than she is.

So I was finishing up college, which meant I was living on no cash flow

ramen noodles for most of my meals, just scraping, getting by. She had graduated and had gotten a job

teaching. So she had cash flow, and she wasn't eating ramen noodles as much as I was at least.

And we stood together on December 18th, 1999 and joined our lives with each other.

And on that day, I received so many amazing things, most importantly, a beautiful wife who loves God with all her heart.

And you know what else I received on that day? I received cash flow. So it was great.

Coming into that day, I had no cash flow. I said two words. I do. And all of a sudden,

everything that was in her bank account became a part of my bank account and cash flow.

So I joke about that, but the reality that 1 Corinthians 1, 30 and 31 is telling us is amazing.

When you unite your life with Jesus, everything that he has becomes yours. That's what

verse 30 is saying here. His wisdom becomes yours. His righteousness becomes yours. His sanctification,
