So I always think when I come on here, what's something I can say that can inspire or can remind you of something you might have forgotten or introduce you to something that you might not know about.

So the poet, Nikki Giovanni, died two nights, days ago. She was 81 years old, lived an amazing life,

black, lesbian, butch poet. One of her claims to fame is that she was a poetry teacher at

Virginia Tech, and the Virginia Tech shooter was in her class. And from his work, she alerted the administration

and said, something's really wrong with this person. You need to have eyes on this person. And they

didn't listen because she was a poet. And there's a super powerful interview with her after that.

Also, one of my favorite clips of her is she was on Deaf Poetry Jam.

And, you know, that's like a show, like young people were on that show, right?

It's like kind of a poetry spit kind of thing.

And she just comes on in a suit and tie and fucking just knocks everyone out of the water.
