I'm your host, Gabe Dunn. And with me today, Michelle, do you want to tell my audience who you are and what you do?

Because I thought the title of was like very, it grabbed me immediately.

Sure. My name is Michelle Mealy and I am a CPA. I do taxes and bookkeeping and accounting or small businesses and professionals.

And part of it was like if I don't pay my taxes, am I going to jail? Right?

That's like the big thing, which I think once a day. Yeah, taxes can be really scary for a lot of people.

And so I guess I'm here to make them a little less scary. And I think that a lot of people, like, avoid their taxes, like the plague, they,

you know, just ignore them. And they're just afraid of what's going to happen. You know,

they don't know what to do. They don't know how to file. They're afraid of owing. Yeah.

I mean, keeping track of it is a nightmare. I guess less of a nightmare than when you had to

like keep all of your receipts in a binder, but still kind of a nightmare. Why do you think we have

this idea where it's like just the thought of taxes? I'm like, well, I'm going to jail.

I think that they did this on purpose. Like the IRS is supposed to be there to scare you. They want you to be afraid that you might get audited. I actually was on a video call with an IRS agent the other day. It was a webinar. And he specifically said that this was their tactic. Like they want to scare you so that you file your returns and that

you're compliant and you pay your taxes. So that's the whole goal of the IRS. So yes.
