Previously, following the death of his brother John,

David Flinch, having reluctantly sworn to take on the role of guardian and servant to Lord Underwood,

realized that he might never get a better chance to kill the vampire than right now.

John's nurse, Conchita, is busy upstairs, the housekeeper is nowhere to be seen,

and his sister Lydia went out a while ago on business. David reasons that not so much as a drop of blood has passed

underwards lips in 50 years. He's alone unguarded and quite vulnerable, isn't he?

David ran to the library, pausing on the way to notice that Underwood's

sword had gone from above the fireplace, then hurrying on to open the secret doorway to Underwood's

resting place. We'll join David in a little while, but this week's episode begins with Lydia Flinch.

Before he died, John warned David that Lydia was a bad seed with her own agenda.

What is that agenda? Well, let's join her now as she drives towards that urgent

business that she mentioned earlier. Perhaps that will shed some light on the matter.

This is the continuation of Chapter 8 of Underwood and Flinch. The Red Sun was sinking behind the house as Lydia turned the land rover

onto the drive of Her Malaga Home. As she approached the house, she saw the cars of

her guests were already parked outside. She was delighted to see that everyone was here.

She thumbed the remote control for the garage door and sang

along absently with Oasis's Live Forever as she waited for the door to roll open. She then drove inside and turned off the engine. She reached down and popped

the boot open before taking her handbag from the passenger seat and getting out.
