Episode 6. David's eyes opened to sunlight shining through a sash window. He was lying on his side in a bed, his face half sunken into a soft white pillow.

He moved his head and the settled spirit-level bubble of pain moved to clang against the inside of his skull.

He winced, a hangover.

He remembered drinking, whiskey, but where?

Then he remembered Daventry and West, their underground offices.

He'd come back to England, to Lisa, a flash of memory, a fire and screaming.

He shut his eyes tight.

She was dead.
